I have mine mounted on the rear deck between the rear speakers and a remote display right below the ash tray.

Great looking project, nice work.

Another reason to switch to the Valentine One. I have a couple BEL's (not top-of-line but close) but the problem with them is the buttons are on the top, even their visor clips don't account for this. I would love a better solution for the cab.

Nice work on the solid mount. With the 997s we have some room in the bottom of the console to hide the remote stuff. See: https://rennlist.com/forums/997-foru...tallation.html

Yes, it's in the same place on the LH side...a bit of a PIA when having to reach all the way across to pop the door open at the staton.

Just to be clear, the radar unit is still removable so you could still switch it between cars. Also I don't know what the mount for an Escort looks like but you could probably do a similar mount for an Escort. Also since the mount is much sturdier, you don't wind up loosening the suction cups when transferring the unit....I take mine out whenever I drop off the car at he dealer or when I need to use it in my wife's car (using suction cups for now).

Yeah I saw a few other posts from others who've done this with pretty good results. One of the main reasons I went this way is that the suction cup attachments didn't feel very secure....in the cab, I have the V1 affixed above the mirror using the suction cup and V1 mount as I haven't able how to fab a similar bracket that would work. One of my main concerns w/the suction cups was having the V1 come loose during spirited driving (has happened in the cab) or even in case of an accident. The last is a real concern since in this car the kidlet's car seat is in the front passenger since the back is too inconvenient and the idea of a weighted chunk of metal at head level that is not securely affixed in discomforting.

I had also fabbed a box to mount the V1 on the rear package shelf and I've also seen a few nice installs where the unit is placed in a faux brake light housing and was pretty close to doing it this way. The only negatives with putting it back there was having to run longer wiring (running the wiring for a V1 above the mirror is very, very easy), not being able to control the volume and on/off so would need to purchase the remote volume kit, and the possibility of the unit flying forward in an accident (unlikely). In my cab I put the remote display inside the ashtray (it's a friction fit and with the exception of enlarging the light opening is completely reversible)...the positive was that once the ashtray is close, the display is no longer visible. One negative of having the disply that low, is that it's difficult to see unless you are looking downwards, although once you get used to the different types of audible warnings you don't need to look as often.

Two of the most useful mods for my V1 is the remote mute switch installed on my turn signal stalk (reasonably priced at $10 or so off ebay and very convenient) and the warning light mod by FullColorDefense (it should have come this way from Valentine) - I will probably do both of these mods for the V1s that's are the cab and the wagon at some point.

Anyone here tried the Blendmount? Looks like a nice clean design.

This is not rocket science ... a simple mod is all that is needed for the clip on the passenger visor ...
The V-1 is mounted high and out of sight of potential thieves ... a much better location than below the mirror.

I use the suction cup mount. Not perfect, but it fits above my mirror or both the 993 and 968.

I'm one of those unfortunate souls who lives in Virginia where radar detectors are still illegal. Does anyone have pics and/or descriptions of completely stealthy V1 mounts? I'm talking the kind that you don't have to worry about The Man seeing after he eventually catches up with you... No quick, awkward fumbling to remove, just... "I don't know what radar detector you're talking about officer" kind of mounting. Does this even exist?

In Virginia, no matter how stealth you mount your V1 they can find it using a radar detector detector. Escort and Beltronics make radar detectors that are invisible to RDD. The Redline and STi magnum.

David-Thanks for posting this again. I'm trying to knock out little projects on my car right now and this is the reminder I needed of this cool mod.
Thanks,
chuck

+1. I also hardwired it in to make it easy & neat. Mine is set slightly towards the passenger side to enable using the drivers sun visor.
