oil change - how often?
OK - did a search and unless this topic is buried in one of the million oil threads I have not found much on it in the 993 forum.
How often do you guys change your oil? I have been using mine for a daily drive since I acquired it in March. Uses and has always used Mobil 1. No track time done yet. I know what the manual says I was just curious what has been observed in practice. I have put 6,000 miles on it and has used only about 1/2 quart. I was looking to adhere to 7500 mile changes.
How about those who track their cars - how often do you change it, as mine will soon be tracked after I sell my track car.
Any thoughts input? Thanks in advance.

I'm curious to hear this one as well. I know a guy that changes his every 15,000k miles and does the filters at 7,500 miles. His 95' has 170k miles and more than 40 DE's on it. Run like a top and has never been opened up. I just got mine so I haven't needed a change yet.
Wonder what the manual says?

Speaking only for myself, the only good ones that I've seen at high mileage are ones that received excellent maintenance.

The 1996 Porsche 993 Welcome New Owner Video advises once every 15,000 or once/year, whichever comes first. They cite large oil reservoir, silicon lined cylinders, synthetic oil, and Dual oil filters as justification.

That's my plan too. I don't want the old stuff sitting in the engine all winter. My first DIY change is coming up as soon as the filters arrive.
