Idling too fast
Hi Gents
My car is idling at 1100 rpm constant no hunting or missing ISV is clean and recently been serviced.
Any ideas I have searched but to no avail, Randall G had this same problem but no answers were forthcoming
Any ideas anyone?

Does it idle at 1100 after warm up or just when it's cold? When you cleaned your ISV is it working properly (the armature inside moves freely)? Hard to do, but was the ISV re-installed correctly? Just a few questions to help everyone diag the issue.

Hi Mike,
Yes, it's when it gets to or close to 'warm' (not hot) running temperature.
And the ISV armature is free moving and installed correctly.
Thanks for the reply

Ash,
Several things can cause a high idle and all should be thoroughly checked out:
1) Defective ISV.
2) Short in engine harness that inadvertently tells the ECU that the A/C is on to bump the idle speed. I'd look at the compressor wiring first.
3) Carboned up throttle assembly
4) Intake air leak. You can confirm this with either a smoke test and/or by watching lambda voltages.
These are simply three places to start.
Please let me know what you find.

Hi Steve,
Checked out the car today and you were right, small induction leak on the little splitter unit on the left hand side of the Varioram system, hose had popped out, took me all of two mins to find it once I opened the hood.........sorry I'm a bit embarrassed, thought it was something more serious...
Thanks again Steve

Hi Ash,
No apology necessary, Sir. As they say, "no harm, no foul",..
The most important thing is that you found the source and fixed it with the side benefit of learning something about your car. Thats priceless,..
Well done!
