RPM and Premier - Where are the 993s?
Since being 993'less, I have occasionally been visiting the RPM and Premier web sites. Given the current economic situation in this country (and the world), I am somewhat amazed that these two dealer have very few (and at times zero) 993s for sale.
Maybe this is a product of the model getting old enough that RPM just can't find many pristine examples, and even Premier is having problems finding decent cars.
Or, maybe owners have finally figured out (unlike my good self) that these cars are keepers... for life.

I posed the exact same question to the lead salesman at Belleuve Porsche when I was scouring the west coast for mine. He said exactly this: "No, we very rarely get a 993 through here. Those guys are not interested in trading up for anything else, and can you blame them?"

TruSpeed and Willhoit always seem to have a nice selection of 993s. TruSpeed tends to have more cars (all nice) while Willhoit seems to find the real low, low mileage examples.
I'm finding more and more that dealers either specialize in air-cooled cars (and always have stock) or they don't and it is hit or miss.

This is easy. The highline dealers know that the economic circumstances will affect discretionary spending on these types of Porsches...so they reduced their usual large inventory to next to nothing so that they dont have to sit on Porsches the way that some investors are sitting on houses. I was actually just talking to a friend about this the other day -- that Ray Joseph/RPM seemed to shrink his inventory down at just the right time before the bottom dropped out of the economy...impressive.
