This must be in Washington - it's probably Iris Blue (which looks purple...)

rcwelch has a fantastic sample!

Check out Barney1 on this site as he has a purple twin turbo. The color is really great, especially in person.

Zenith blue has a hint of purple to it.
Vesuvius is greyish purple.
Viola metallic (purple) is a 964 color, but I have seen special order 993 in this color.
Amethyst metallic (redish purple) is a 964 color, but I have seen special order 993 in this color.

and could be Amarant violett, as TAI2 said..

And to sum up, all the colors above looks VERY different from eachother.. We need more info here..

I may be wrong here, but that looks like Midnight Blue Metallic. It is hard to see with the quality of the pictures.

Since I have one in what I think is that color....I'll say it's L39U or L39N Iris Blue Metallic or Iris Blue Pearl Metallic which both have distinct purple hues........but I'm not sure which code goes to what variant.

Yeah, my Zenith Blue Metalic can definately look purple in the right light at the right angle. On one of the receits for work done on my car by a PO, the color was stated as Purple.

Something seems fishy about that car on Craigslist. It's listed as a "1995 Porsche 911CP...", what's the "CP"? And what is "UW"? Also, they just put the spoiler up in the pictures, then list it as if it's an option. It looks like a C2, but it says "Wide body rear end style", huh? "One of a kind car!"? And with 60k miles, doesn't $28,995 seem low?

I asked them to provide color code and what they mean by CP. I don't think this is a Porsche buff but just owned by someone who liked to drive it. And it certainly doesn't look any wider than normal.

Yeah, that's what you would think... except that it's listed as "1995 Porsche 911CP Carrera Cabriolet". And the pictures show a Cab.

The guy must be a Cougar (WSU). That car doesn't look UW purple. I thought maybe he had it custom painted or something. You'll see some cars painted purple at the Husky football games. The best color is a deep metallic purple. You would have to custom order it to get close. I think it is Ocean Blue.

Quick Reply: color UW purple
