I went with the Xenonworks kit off Ebay for 79.99. One of my ballasts was going bad so I bought a whole new kit. Took maybe an hour to install. With the slim ballast kit you can fit the ballast inside the headlight housing. I got the 6000K lights. They aren't the most efficient, but I like the whitish/bluish light. Most intense light output is around 5000K. These are a must for the Northwest up here with our rainy gloomy weather.

You can't do the HIDs for the high beam. It is a bare bulb with a reflector. A HID bulb would not be focused enough to be an effective high beam.

Actually, the fog lights do have a sharp cutoff shield and direct all light output down and to the side of the road - I took one apart and they will work for a HID retrofit.

Could some one send me the link for FJT2000. I want to buy an HID conversion kit. I want the brightest light so I will go for the 5000k units but is there a difference in the wattage? More wattage = more light?

Replacing standard halogen bulbs with aftermarket equivalent of Litronic HIDs.

I put yellow halogens in my fogs. I think the HIDs, even directed down, are too bright for fogs and will reflect back too much.

I'm not a n00b and yes I did search and this is the thread I found...

I'm really considering a 993 (probably a 1996 coupe, manual, blah blah), but I've been having a hard time finding any with factory Litronics. I'm not a big fan of non-OEM parts like lights, so the question is this:

Is it possible to retrofit Porsche OEM Litronics to a non-Litronic car? Cost is not the issue (I'm guessing it'll be about $1000-1500), but I want to make sure it's a cut-and-dried swap.

Thanks in advance!

EDIT - looks like VHanzon might have answered the question:

Don't know about the projector type but regarding the kit: As far as I understood, the kit consists of two complete headlight housings with ballasts, igniters etc. These new housings replace the stock headlight housings, so there is no modifying inside the housings with the factory litronic upgrade...
And I found prices are around the $2000 mark.

If anyone has additional input or things I should know, please chime in!

I got my HId's from www.aceparts.com , they're the slim fitting ballasts , and come with these ..

http://www.aceparts.com/233-t4w-supe...-sidelight.htm

All in price of £125stg including P&P .

Work fine in my car , if you mail alan@aceparts and ask him about polarity issues he'll sort you out ..
just to be sure , these are our sidelights (or saytime running lights) in Euroland , it looks like the same fitments are used as fogs in the states.

I'll try to get a pic in the next few days if anyone's interested..

I am interested in seeing the pics. I am considering the same units. Do you have any reservations recommending the aceparts kit? looking for something that is plug and play where the ballasts fit in the housing. Are the instructions easy to follow?

Thanks

Hi Vern1 , I'm very happy with the quality of the kits (HID and LED) , they really are plug and play , and all fit inside the headlight , just need to be very neat getting all the wiring in there. IF you get them and you've a problem PM me and I'll try and help .I have to re-focus the beam yet to make them perfect (plenty of topics to help you do this here), you may have to too . The LED's don't quite fill the space with light like the old bulbs did , but I think they're a vast improvement .
