Default Salvage/Rebuilt 993?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...NA:MOTORS:1123

I saw this 993 on ebay and the price is pretty cheap but it has salvage/rebuilt title. What do you think?
I really don't want to buy any rebuilt car unless it was from theft or something non collision damage.

And can you covert AWD to 2WD and back to AWD easily?

Huge red flags on that one.

Must have been in a front end collision, and the owner was too cheap to get a new airbag steering wheel, so he installed a cheapo Momo wheel. Wonder if the passenger airbag was replaced.

Not likely. I wonder if this was due to the collision.

IMHO cheap on the front end up front is usually expensive on the back end. And to add insult to injury you have to sell that car one day and you get to deal with the BS of a salvage title. No matter what you tell yourself you will want to sell the car one day. There are a handfull of people that "keep a car forever". Set your goals and price and just wait for the right car.

+1

Something looks weird on the front end. I can't explain what but it does not look right. May be the gaps between the hood and the bumper.

I actually thought the pics looked fine. I'd be willing to bet it's a train wreck up close, though.

My pocket is not deep but not desperate to get salvage vehicle.
I'll get really nice one with low miles and service records
BTW, is it really easy to covert from AWD to RWD and back to AWD (well I wouldn't do that but just curious)

easy enough to convert to 2WD, though "easy" is a relative term.
Converting back is a little more difficult.

EDIT: To elaborate a bit, converting back to AWD would involve reversing (cutting) some tack welds where the 2WD shift box meets the tunnel.

See Viper Bob: On his website you'll see, "For the lucky 993 4S and Turbo drivers, I have developed a factory-component 2WD conversion kit. It's fully reversible but once you're enjoying your car in rear-wheel drive mode, you might never go back. You can free up a lot of that understeer and make the car feel more lively (oh and you remove 125 lbs from the car). Full Kit with instructions $1000."

Too much $ for too many potential problems and no resale value.

That price is way too high with a salvage title. I can't believe it's been bid up as high as it already is. I wouldn't pay the current bid price and it hasn't even hit reserve. Then again the seller may just be bidding up to just below reserve.

That does sound pretty funny. Why would you buy anything for more than market value?
