Angry Power Seat issue

Hey guys, my '96 993 cab carrera 31,000 mi is having power seat issues. The seat is stuck in the far back position and won't come forward. When the forward or backward button is pressed, you can here the power goin to the seat motor but no movement. This has happened a couple of times before but it started working right away. It seems like it only happens when i move the seat all the way back. Some might suggest the obvious...DON'T PUT IT ALL THE WAY BACK! However, as I am in a wheelchair I need it back for my transfer to my chair. Anyway, any thoughts would be appreciated.

It has happen with my passenger seat and what I did was get on the side kneeling beside the seat and press the forward switch with one hand and with the other hand behind the bottom seat push and wiggle it and came unstuck .
This has not happen now for quite awhile .

Arenared good luck getting it freed and then you should lubricate spinner rod a bit .

Cheers Guy

I roughly recall reading in the owner's manual that you can manually adjust the seat if the electric motor fails. There's something under the seat you can adjust w/ allen key I think.

Im sure someone can confirm or deny this.

Don't leave it jambed back all the way...move it forward about a 1/4 inch.

BTW, this comes up about every 2 months...one of the quirks of 993s.

Should we post up a quirk list? Add it to pcarworkshop.com?

Might be a good idea...

Ciao

Hey Bruce sea 993. you mean inch it forward away from its back limit every time and prevents future jamming?

Yup, exactly. If I run my seat back all the way and leave it...it will stick. I nudge it forward a tiny bit and I works fine all the time.

Hope it works for you!
