pong,

with the exception of C6Z06, i have owned all those cars.

z06 i drove on track, very very good car, with 20k in mods, it will eat up GT3's. but for street use, you wont like the crude interior and it's just too much hp for anything but the track.

s2k. they do come with hardtop, i got one. very expensive $3000. but it looks great. the soft top is not lined, so it's very noisy. if you like top down, then it's ok. if not, take off the soft top, sell it, and put the hard top on permanently.

elise/exige (had both) much much much much better car than s2000, also much much much more fragile. if you ever have to parallel park it anywhere, please dont. if i tap you at 5mph, it's a $10k bill. i was the victim of it once. your ruf handles 1/2 as good as a lotus. but it's a momentum car. no tq, like s2000. i recall you dont like high rev's. then s2k is like a civic and lotus is also like a civic. both needs 7000rpm or more to come alive. also, it's not easy to get in and out of the lotus. if you dont have the door all the way open, forget it.

i have NB as well as NA. NB is a waste of money. it's heavier and slower than NA. you had NA already, so skip miata.

pick lotus or s2000.

John,

If I went with Miata, it'll likely be a 04/05 Mazdaspeed Miata with a hardtop ($1,200 pre-painted from factory). That is one sweet car. With $4k in mods (engine, suspension) that car will haul. It already came with aero-bits.

My take is either Vette or Miata. Neither the Lotus or the S2000 is adequate for road tripping (no trunk space).

Good choice! I am 6'1", 215# and fit into an Exige just fine, once I'm in it. Getting in/out can be a bitch. My wife is 5'11", 135# and has the same "difficulty" getting in or out as I do too so it doesnt seem to be exclusive to loads like me. Getting in/out for me at least isn't any different than getting in/out in any of my P-Cars with Pole Position seats. You kind of have to "drop in" and pull yourself out.

Make sure you fit in one of these before you buy. I have a friend at work who had had two Miatas previously and was about to buy one of these and then tried to sit in it. They did something with the steering wheel that changed how he fit and ruled out this particular model. He went to an S2000 instead.

I have a Miata and absolutely love driving it, especially in comparison to my other daily driver, my Sequoia. However, although I have never driven either, I always look lustfully at S2000's and Lotus Exiges, Elises, etc.

Despite respecting the performance of the Corvette, I have never had any desire to own a late-model one.

NSX?

I think you could get an early 90's one for $20kish....if you can find one that has not been riced.

Ive always had a soft spot for this 'reliable' supercar. I always considered adding one with the Pcar. I think theres also tons of upside on the value over time....just not that many out there.

Now thats what Im talking about.

My dad had a 63 Stingray (which he wrecked within 30 minutes of ownership) and a 77.

Classic American muscle cars are priceless.

[QUOTE=CP;5768074]Hi,

Just curious, if you have gotten the Porsche ownership experience out of your system, what other sports car would you consider. Assume that is mostly a street car with very little track use.

Somebody else makes sports cars ?????

Doug,

I'm 5'-5" 150 #, so the snug-factor is no issue for me.

Actually, if I violate my arbitrary no-Porsche rule, then I'll keep the base Cayman. It is a very utilitarian Porsche DD. Wow, how ofetn would one find the words 'Porsche' and 'utilitarian' in the same sentance.

But if I'm talking retirement, then I need to watch my pennies. So unspoken in the original post, high-dollar sports cars (Ferraris, Lambos, Porsches, etc.) would warrent much less consideration.

BMW M Coupe. Either the old mini station wagon one or the current one.
