Question '95 C2 Carrera won't start

I have a '95 C2 993 with 88K, no engine mods, recent 90K service including plug wires and distributor drive belt. Everything appears normal, engine turns over, but won't fire, not even a hint. For awhile it has seemed like it was running rich, especially when thoroughly warmed up, but otherwise it hasn't been acting badly and I used to drive it daily. Car has been sitting for around 5 weeks with the battery minder attached. Where should I begin. Thank you.

If the engine turns over like normal, but not starting, DME relay would be where I would start.

Replace your DME relay (under the fuse cover in the front). Do a search here for "DME" - very common for these to fail over time.

Thanks, I'll try that.

Wink well, that fixed it.

Thank you, replaced the DME relay and it started right up. I carried a spare relay around in the glove compartment of my '88 Carrera for years and never needed it. I guess I got lazy when I bought this one. The old relay was a 944 part made in Hungary of all places. These relays must do more than just energize the fuel pump because before the car wouldn't start it had began to run kind of crummy, just not very crisp and it seemed like it was running rich. I had changed the O2 sensor and I thought that made a slight improvement, but now it appears it was the DME relay, because I didn't make any other changes and now its running like it should.
