Need some help guys..
sometimes when i start my pcar i hear a weird blowing noise from the rear left.its only on a cold start and only sometimes.its only for a second and it sounds like air is blown out of something with a hint of a whinning noise but mostly sounds like ffffssss..with a little whine..
ive been noticing also for a while that it feels like the car has lost some power.havent done a leakdown test yet and i was wondering what the hell that noise is and if it has to do with the power loss..
I vote for an intake leak, most likely at the bottom of the intake manifold on one (or several) cylinders. The rubber sleeves can crack or split with age and it sounds very much like the sound you describe. My shop located the intake leak by doing a smoke test (throwing smoke under pressure via the airbox and looking for smoke coming out). After replacing thre culprit rubber sleeve, the noise was gone and power was back.
