I had both my Turbo and 95 C2 for about 6 months. While the TT is much faster and boosts the ego, the 95 had much more character. Nothing else has the sound or feel of a properly setup NA car. I miss the noise and experience much more than I thought I would. The Turbo is about as civilized as a 911 can ever be and I'm not sure that is a good thing. I am now looking for a high mile, low dollar NA car to fill the void...

Still doesn't sound "good", in my opinion. With the regular bypasses it sounds a bit "boaty" at idle.
Now... center exit exhaust, no mufflers, just extra pipe. Maybe 100 cell cats. That might be the answer... we will see!

It's your brother, isn't it?
A little sibling rivalry?
Mel,
Take all the bits off - make stock - sell.
Buy a TT - put all the good bits back on = One Happy Mel!!!!

I had thought about that. Its actually a good idea.

Do you have any "toy fund" budget limitations? If not, then the TT is the ultimate 993 you can get into... well... not counting a Ruf turbo like Javier's.

You may as well try it, you can always go back. Some may disagree but having ridden some fairly fast street bikes I can say that power isn't everything. Yes it sure is fun but I can barely use what I've got now to full potential. I think there is a pitfall that we get in to that says the best car is the fastest car. Perhaps this is age talking but I find my na very satisfying as it is and prefer lighter simpler things now. ymmv.

Agreed. I rode sportbikes for the past 15 years and rode really fast but am totally satisfied with my 270 HP Carrera. Plenty of power for my needs but I hear Texas has lots of open stretches.........

Mel. I just sold a GR front bumper!!!!
On a serious note, maybe a little supercharger? Say nothing to your brother, pull up at the light and BAM! surprise the heck out him.
What ever you decide, your 993 is an STUNNING car and you will have no issues selling it.

Keep it Mel. I came extremely close to getting that SY993TT a few weeks ago and am glad I resisted. If I could have both 993s, that would have made me very happy but my money tree stopped blooming for the season! I've also been looking at 996GT3s and until I'm able to have two cars, one being my basic, humble, non-S(how do we survive?) 993, I won't be changing. The novelty of more HP wears away fairly quickly. The amazing FEEL of a good car can't be replaced with HP.
Of course this can all change if the right car in the right colour with the right options is staring you in the face!

+1... my 611hp 996tt was brutally fast, a total rush to open up. At the end of the day, however, I honestly enjoy the experience of driving much more when behind the wheel of my 1988 Carrera. I say find a way to have them both or save up until you can.

Mel, how does it feel when you drive your brothers car? Do you enjoy it more? Is the turbo power intoxicating? Do you miss the NA sound? Is the steering heavier? You have to follow your heart here. Certainly not an easy decision. I've grown to learn I am more of an NA guy. Direct throttle response, wonderful sound, feels lighter/more agile, more character as someone previously mentioned. Whatever floats your boat. After a lot of thinking I've come to the conclusion that, for me, the ultimate Porsche is , not surprisingly a comfort spec. 993 RS. Remember, sometimes less is more .
