Transporting to Chicago from Phoenix
I am flying into Phoenix this week to look at the 96 993C4S that will hopefully live up to my expectations! Planning to do a PPI at local Porsche shop, and then, if all goes well, have car shipped in an enclosed carrier to Chicago. Looking for good, and reasonable, transportation companies.
Also, welcome any and all cautionary suggestions to ensure the transaction and shipping go smoothly.
Thanks!

Bought a 993 recently from Phoenix as well and Gary Almond transported the car to NJ. His website is http://www.almondexotictransports.com/services.html - overall very happy with the service. Good luck.

Do a rennlist search on intercity. While I have never used them and have no affiliation, blah, blah, blah.... I have read nothing but rave reviews on them.
You get what you pay for. I have heard horror story's because people want to save a buck on the this part of their purchase.

A little over a year ago I purchased my car in Chicago and had it shipped Fed Ex, enclosed container, to Seattle. I was very happy with the service. Total cost $1800. Congratulations on your purchase if it goes through.

Oh man, two weeks two late.
Used my buddy's race shop.
Just had my cab delivered to Wyoming, then the trailer continued to Colorado with his Euro Carrera.
Would have been easy for you and the race shop.
For your reference, Chicago to NW Wyoming quote was $1900 from Intercity. They didn't sound too keen for the business as the town is a little out of the way (which is why we are all here in the first place). You may actually get a better quote from one majo city to another.
If you hurry, you might find someone with trailer space going to the club race at Road America Labor Day weekend. Easy to drop it off in Chicago area, or you could pick it up at the track.

I bought my car out of Phoenix in January. DJ at Don Jackson Enterprises did the PPI and some service work. I do recommend them. I spoke with Fedex and Intercity who were set-up at Barrett Jackson. I've heard nothing but good things about their work but they were expensive and Intercity was quoting around $3200 and 8 weeks to get the car to Canada!

Agree with DJ Jackson for the PPI. (Don, his father, passed away last year.) And I used DeMoise when I moved from Scottsdale to Dallas. Perfect service.

I would recommend driving it first. If you are going to ship I have experience with Intercity, price wise they are great. The problem is that it would have taken a month for them to ship my car to me from their "home" state to Chicago. I waited three weeks for the car and finally called to see what was going on and they told me they are still waiting to get me into the system. I cancelled and ended up flying out that weekend to drive the car home. I drove from Boston to Chicago in 14 hours. That is why I suggest you drive it of you can.

Thanks all for your input. I have contacted all your suggested companies! The big concours bash in Monterey, and the auction, seem to have sucked up a lot of capacity. Not yet found someone to pick up this week, but continuing to look!

This makes me want to start a service...I love road trips. You pay the expenses and I will drive it to your door.
What a way to see the USA! (I should have been on Madison Ave!)
Cheers!
