Default Lubricating door handle/latch

Guys, the g.f. pointed out to me last night that my passenger side door handle felt weird. I tried it out and it feels like it's kind of sticking or something. I'm assuming there's a cable that goes to the door latch mechanism. Is this something that I can lubricate externally without taking off the interior door panels?

Hi Ron,

No Cable. It's rods and linkages. Do you mean the inside door release? Does it feel markedly different from the driver's one? You can try a bit of silicone spray lube at the door latch mechanism itself, but nothing you can lube beyond that without removing the door panel.

Thanks Edward. It's actually the outside passenger side door release that feels weird, the inside seems to be fine. I'll try a little silicone spray before I take it out tonight and see if that does anything. Otherwise it's off with the panel!

Both inside and outside handles actuate the same latch. For metal latches and catches, I like white lithium grease in a spray can wth the red extension nozzle. I like silicone spray on seals and other plastic.

Spraying the outside door handle hinge area did the trick! I guess I probably could have figured that out on my own but thanks for the advice guys.

Good deal. I spray it on occasion, along with inside the keyhole, as a matter of preventative maintenance. Glad that worked out for ya!
