Source for a mid-1995 OBD1 plug for KTS300
Does anyone know of a source for the rectangular OBD1 plug for a mid-1995 993? I have the round one from my 964 but FVD does not even list the rectangular plug.

I will take a pic later after work. The cover is on the drivers side of the console. about 1/2 way up near the front and the cover says OBD. One of the stickers in the engine compartment says OBDI near the bottom of it. The car has a build date of 5/95. I was hoping that I could use my Hammer with this car.

Part way through the '95 build year, they did change the connector position and type - to the OBDII connector - even though the system is still OBDI (and not II).
OBDII became a federal requirement for the 96 model year, but some of the "mid 95's" have the (hybrid) ODBII connector but with ODBI system electronics.
My car has OBDI but with the OBDII connector.
and to the OP, you can actually make up an OBDII cable using the right AMP connector from www.digikey.com and an OBDII cable from somewhere like
www.obd2cables.com That's what I've done in the past.
I'll look up the part numbers later today for you and post the pinouts...

Clive,
I stand corrected, of course. I've not seen a '95 with the OBD-II connector since we confine ourselves to working on race cars, therefore I'm not exposed to the full gamut of street machinery.
I was attempting to answer Craig's question about where to get the right plug and it sounded like the OBD-II one to me, albeit with different pinouts and wiring.

Phew! (breathes sigh of relief - the Gods are still in favor )
Yes, from Craigs post it is the OBDII connector he wants (right location anyway - next to you right knee).
Will post the info later when I get home... stay tuned...

Sorry for the late reply...
Actually found the AMP connectors are from Mouser... www.mouser.com
Then your OBDII cable of choice... I used 144503 from obd2cables.com

Then wire up as:
Hope that helps!

I have a mid year 95 with the hybrid OBD I system but with the OBD II connector.
What is the best low cost code reader available for this car?

I feel terrible having to correct "The Master"... but that's not quite true...

Here are a picture of the plug - which seems to be an OBD-II and the emissions sticker which says OBD-I compliant. I think I have a half breed as well. And the car with Targa wheels and Wet Okole seat covers. A work in progress as of yet.
