Has anyone an idea where to buy this type of trunk carpet?
Jack
There wil be a part number in pet, the carpet is actually mounted on a board of some sort to add rigidity, quite heavy.....you could go the RS CS route and have no carpets at all, lighter and cheaper!
I modified the original trunk carpet by removing the sides, cutting off the center section and sewing on some edge binding.
I used velcro to attach the top of the carpet to the fuel tank strap.
Looks close to the RS piece.
I also did the RS washer fluid tank, RS hood prop rod and those really sweet Moton Clubsports
Yes that silver car was a heavily optioned machine, the wheels were painted to match the exterior color instead of the usual silver as a factory option.

I thought the centrs had a Polar Silver look to them. As much as I hate the look of the airbag wheel (particularly on an RS!), it sure must have made the legalization process into the US easier. I've always wanted to bring one of these cars home around 2010 as the car would then be 15 years old and as such require NO MODIFICATIONS to be legal in Canada. Too bad (for me) prices for the 993 RS never really got "cheap" (like 964RS') and seem to be going up rapidly lately.
Airbags indeed, DOT requires both left and right airbags for compliance. If you try to import a car without them you will end up with a chopped up car with them in the end. The dual air bags was an option for the 993RS. Yes they have gotten expensive, I remember several years ago 65K euros would by a nice one, today the same one is near 100K euros, with the exchange rate, shipping, tax, EPA-DOT, your looking at close to $200K us dollars. Sounds like 2010 is your year, you save on the DOT-EPA aspect of bringing the car to Canada but if the dollar is weak a good machine will be $150K+ Canadian dollars.
This thread made me dig through some old boxes of pictures in the garage. Bingo! I found several cool car pics from a few trips to Europe 94-96. Pics from the McLaren showroom in London (I went to the factory but no pics were allowed!), AFN Porsche Chiswick (London) that had TWO new 993RSs in the showroom (midnight blue/CS spoilers/"comfort" model with hardbacked sport seats, and a purple RS/CS), Ferrari UK HQ in Egham, Porsche Stuttgart, and a few pics from outside the gates of the holyland including several RS/CS cars(again, no pics inside the gates, LOTS of Boxster prototype sightings as this was Nov. 6-7/95). I'll scan some of the pics and post in a seperate thread.
Once again, THIS THREAD ROCKS!
