Rocker help
I drove an '83 cab for 20 years and impulsively bought a 993 five years ago. I had no idea of the extent of possible options/mods. The '83 had a full leather option and not a lot more. Then a friend(?) pointed me to Rennlist and I started the slide. Finally getting close to the bottom of the hill. The Gemballa aero kit was on the car when I bought it. Anyway, I am finally getting around to changing to stock. Hence this post.
What is the best process for reversing this - tig weld new rockers or fill the hole? The pisser is that I need the lower rocker covers, too.
Any help/thoughts would be appreciated (sans "SoCal Ford Probe" comments). Thanks.

Ouch. Ususally the rockers are just glued on and the brake duct is cosmetic, not functional. That part of the rocker is attached to the rear quarter panel. I would talk to a competent bodyshop and see if they can weld in a patch. Fortunately, it is covered with textured paint so it covers well...unfortunately, it will be visible from inside the wheel well on close scrutiny.
I agree with Tom. As long as the lower rocker metal is not damaged in other ways, have the opening closed and protected properly. Then purchase the black plastic rocker covers and hardware for the bottom - they are roughly $80 each from Sunset Porsche.

Tom/Andrea: Thanks for the help from "pros." I was ambivalent about filling the hole. The Gemballas actually do route air to the brakes - just sorta overkill for a non-track Tip. Appreciate your responses.
