993 Purchase Tips...Please.
Gentlemen,
I had a 924 turbo growing up and I know have a very cherry 951. Fortunately the life of an entrepreneur is paying off and I am ready to upgrade to the 993. It is my favorite body style of the 911's
.
I have been browsing ebay and rennlist for about two months and think I am ready to purchase in the next 30 days or so and plan to purchase the Carrera or CarreraS.
My question is what specifically do I need to need to pay attention when considering my 993 purchase.
Thanks in advance for the input.

In the words of the dearly departed Ray Calvo, "Do a search, you lazybones."
Seriously this is a very oft asked and answered topic. A PPI (pre purchase inspection) is a must from a shop that knowsthe model. It is best to see the car with your own eyes or a fellow listers eyes if out of the area. Service records are always good. Leakdown test? SAI check engine light issues? Oil consumption? Mods or lack thereof. Oil thermostat resistor blown? 1995 wiring harness recall done? Door check straps clicking? Rear spoiler grinding? Original Monroe shocks?? SUV ride height? Power seat move easily? 30K 60K Major services done?
At best these are 10 year old cars that need regular maintaining and to be driven like you stole it. So do a search and a vast wealth of knowledge will hit you like an avalanche.
Best wishes.

I looked a long long time before finally finding one. My search was basically autotrader across the US since October. Most of them I would email the place to find out the car was basically sold the day it was on the ad, mostly to the UK. I found one locally somehow that fit almost exactly what I wanted, color, price, mileage, condition. I don't think you should give yourself a time period. Just look until you find the right one. I still can't believe I found a white on black, since thats my favorite color combo. =)
I also didn't want to have the dealer do the repairs, because I figured they might cheap it out. I told myself if I can get a decent price, I am willing to spend the money on whatever problems there may be once I find a trusted mechanic.

Patience really pays off...test drive and see as many speciments as possible and dont be afraid to walk away from a deal if you sense any wrong. And always buy the best one that you can afford...
