IIRC, it was advertised in the latest Pano.
It sort of makes sense, given the huge depreciation hits Boxsters have taken. Buy a cheap Boxster, add the top for $7K and you've got a functionally equivalent Cayman for about half the price.

A Very interesting modification ...
Here is an another thread in the Boxster/Cayman forum that I posted last year:

I debated the Boxster+Hardtop approach for a while. What sealed the deal for me for the Cayman are the rear haunches. They are a few inches higher than the Boxster, and completely transformed the look of the car. The Boxster will bever look this good from the rear quarter angle.
Here's what I mean.

You're right. The Cayman's rear profile is about the best I've seen.
By the way, have you see the Alfa 8C? That's a classis in the making.
That's a nice poster you parked in front of? Do you know where they sell those?

Those are very cool kits. It makes the decision a little easier. You can get the benefit of the convertible, and yet the great looks of the Cayman.
My only critique would be that you still get a much more rigid frame with the Cayman. So if you have a serious notion to track your car, the Cayman is a better choice. Although the difference is only fractions.
I think it just shows how the Cayman is that much better looking to warrant such a investment to mimic it.
