That's the new iteration of the 997 wet sump engine. It's supposed to replace not only the old wet sump engines as used in Boxsters & 996/997 but also the dry sumps used in turbo and GT2/3/RS/RSR

It's their latest 'integrated dry sump' == > another POS wet sump.
If it were a true dry sump (i.e. M64/GT1 derived lump), you wouldn't have to worry about that test.

The M64/GT1 has gotten too expensive and marketing has determined that the VAST majority of the new Porsche buyer/demographic:
a. wouldn't know a dry sump if it jumped up and bit them on the ***
b. wouldn't know a GT1 car if it drove over them

You say POS, why do you feel so strongly, has there been problems reported already?

When you say wet sump, just how wet is it? How much oil is in the sump? I understand there's not much of a sump there, but maybe that's wrong.

I believe the 997.2 features:
new two piece stronger case (replacing 996 four piece unit)
elimination of problematic intermediate shaft
30% fewer moving parts
10-15 % increase output
similar improvement in efficiency
above noted new oiling system (video highly rec'd) although Bill's point about why its needed is valid
new tranny

Never seen a rig like that, impressive to say the least.
