Sunroof liner question
My sunroof liner inside the car has come loose along the leading edge. Any advice on adhesive to use to re-attach it, etc?
And yeah, I know it's dirty!

Guys,
Common problem. Pliobond adhesive - comes in a small can, you can apply it with a small 'battery brush'.
The problem comes in getting the vinyl to lay flat long enough for the adhesive to work. You have to stretch it over the edge of the sunroof.
I found that the small 'binder clips' (Staples) and some wooden coffee stir sticks worked well to hold the vinyl down. Apply the Pliobond a few inches at a time, stretch the vinyl and lay the stir sticks on the edge. Clamp with the binder clips. You can use the stir sticks on the bottom as well to prevent making a 'dent' in the vinyl that shows - although any marks will come out with heat from a hair dryer later.
Hope this helps.

Awesome! I didn't even think of using the black binder clips and some coffee stirrers, or even some tongue depressors would work too (I've got a physical tomorrow so I'll try to snag some). Thanks! Just need to hunt down some pliobond.

Ron,
Glad to help.
I like Pliobond because it doesn't 'skin over' as quickly at 3M Weatherstrip adhesive - but the 3M product will work. Any auto paint shop will have 3M products.
And stop at Starbucks for a latte.... they have the best wooden coffee stir sticks for this job....

Sounds good Mike. I've got some weatherstrip adhevise here already if I can't find the pliobond. I'm going to try to snag a bunch of tongue depressors during my physical this afternoon, swing by staples to get the binder clips on the way back, and hit up the Starbucks near my house so I can cover all the bases. Thanks!

That's the product (Pliobond). You can get it in a little pint can at...
http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalo...s/pliobond.php
Aircraft Spruce is great. You will have the product in a day or two.

On that picture I posted it's just the leading edge of the sunroof where the vinyl had come loose. I used some pliobond to reattach it and a couple lengths of some clear plastic tubing I had laying around that I stuffed along the front edge to hold it in place while it cured.

Just wondering if DAP Weldwood Contact Cement would work as a substitute for Pliobond - any adhesives experts out there? I did read through this thread and another one; preparing to order Pliobond from Aircraft Spruce but noticed that I have Weldwood around from another project.
