Marcus,

That's an interesting observation. I guess I grew up seeing cars as an utilitarian object and not a work of art to view/critique. It was only after I got my M5 in 2001 that I started paying more attention to the finer points of automobile appreciation. Evidently, I have yet to learn to appreciate the interior, which remains just utilitarian to this day.

THANK YOU!!! I can't agree more! Why can't someone spend 1 hour once or twice a year to clean and condition the leather?

As for the 993 interior in particular, I agree that it isn't the fanciest or best laid out interior, but I LOVE it for its timelessness, the fact that you can compare it to a 1965 911 and see how it hasn't really changed. I also like the subtle facelift in the seats and doors on the 993 that updated the look a bit without changing it completely.

+1

That was one of the (many) reasons I bought a 993 instead of a 996, because I felt the family resemblance ended with the 996. I still haven't warmed up to the 996/997 design, although I think the 997 looks a bit better than its predecessor...

I hate the 996 interior--it looks cheap. I am a life-long VW fan, so I'm always around VWs and VW friends, and the interiors on the current and previous VWs is better than the 996. I really like what they did for the 997 though. I really like how the central instruments are integrated. But it still doesn't match the classic air-cooled look.

Recently picked up an M5 changed out the wood for titan aluminum, just had my 944 done in full leather & contemplating the same for the 993, my RS has all leather options.

Interior is important here but don't get me wrong I enjoy driving them as well.

I loved the full leather and all the CF in my ex-GT3.
After seeing another GT3 without them, I loved them even more. If I were to order a new Porsche, I'd definately get the full leather package at minimum.

Default car's interior

My apologies in advance (I tried searching to no avail) but what is the standard leather package, if any, on a non S, non turbo, 993?

I've checked all the option codes on my '96 coupe in Streather, and couldn't find one for leather.

TIA

Rinty
