The word "CHROME" is all I need to see to turn me off from them. Do a search on chrome wheels and you'll se that they are not as strong and are, arguably, really blingy.

The process of chroming does not hurt them, but de-chroming them does. They have to be dipped in acid to remove the chrome.
Depends on your needs, if you are going to use them for track wheels, I would avoid them. if use is pure street, they should be fine.

FWIW I had a set of Fuchs on my former SC that had been chromed. I had them dipped and polished/painted. I did use the car a few times for DEs, but not serious track use. Never had a problem with them. That was back in 98 or so, I think I paid about $125 per wheel for de-chrome, polish and paint. From what I recall, price is a little cheaper on West Coast, perhaps due to more competition vs other parts of the country.

From what others have experienced here, Kika, chroming Porsche wheels does weaken them.

IIRC last year someone posted a bulletin Porsche NA sent to it dealers warning them that chroming any Porsche wheels would void the warranty and weaken the integrity of the wheel.

I'd pass on these (for all the reasons already discussed) and continue to look for an unmolested set.

Chrome over a period of time also cracks and flakes, causing small air leaks and making it almost impossible to mount new wheels.

THAT I can verify, my wife has chromed Lornisor wheels on the Benz, and she has to put air in about once every 2 weeks. On one hand, it makes her aware of tire presures, so it is kind of a blessing in disguise.

The plating process alters the molecular structure of forged wheels, weakening them. If you don't intend on driving on the track, they may be fine. I had a set of fully polished fuch 7/9s on my Pazificblau SC, lots of work to keep them looking good and can be kind of "Blingy" in retrospect.
