I have a suspicion that it cut into Bernie's profit or he wanted to get paid to film in high def? It deplorable that F1, which is the pinnacle of motor racing can't be watched as it should on a 21st century TV like other sporting events.
It kills me that Indy Car Racing is in HD and I can even see what color lipstick Danica is wearing as she goes around the track.

You have to tune your Direct TV Speed channel to the SpeedHD channel. There is also a analog Speed Channel.
I've gotten every F1 race thus far in HD on Speed Channel HD.

Yeah, we have DirecTV and all of F1 this year has been "higher" def either on SpeedHD or Fox. It used to be 720p or 720i, which isn't quite high def, but pretty darn good. Fox's broadcast certainly looked1020 to me.

The broadcast was okay, but by no means HD. I channel surfed to other sports on ABC, CBS, etc. and Fox was not even close to the detail offered on the other channels. There was quite a bit of pixilation on my Plasma. I believe it has to do with non HD cameras when it was recorded.
I don't even see SpeedHD offered as DirectV service ?

Go to www.directv.com and it's listed as an HD channel. 607 to be exact.
BTW, F1 races are DEFINITELY recorded in HD (I've seen pics of the HD cameras). Last fall they were downconverting to 720 for U.S. broadcasts on SpeedHD and CBS at the time. Not sure about now.

I watched France on Fox HD and it was in widescreen, but definitely not in HD. Easiest way to tell is to look at the graphics like the lap counter box at the top.
