Default Approximate cost for carpet replacement

Has anyone had this done professionally? I know the carpet itself is $700 or so, what is a reasonable cost for the labor? I've gotten estimates for $3K, seems a bit expensive, doesn't it?

Thanks,
Sachin

$2300 for labor seems a bit steep. Is the carpet glued down all the way around?

That's a lot 'a coin ... but it is a labor intensive job ...

Yea I am installing the carpet on my 3.2 its a lot of work but I am a novice, pros can probably do it a lot faster. 3000 is way too steep....I think someone told me 2000 is a fair price but you should shop around or do it yourself.

Sachin,

Check with site sponsor (Bob) at The 928 Leather Shop. I had them create a carpet set using Wilton wool. The carpet should be installed in the next week or two at the body shop. I am still hoping to have my car done in time for the Porsche Parade 2008. I don't have the cost of the carpet handy, but I think it was less than OEM and of better quality. I also went with leather dash and rear shelf, Alcatera headliner.

Getting the old carpet out could be a pain. My body man is using some solvent (don't have a name) that he sprays on, wait a while and it pulls right up.

Good Luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Replacing carpet is quite a chore. If you asked me to do it, I'd probably quote you 30 hrs. If a color change, I'd add another 5-10. Hard to say how long it took me, but 40 hrs is probably close.

Thanks for the answers guys, I'm having it done by Riggs Bros. A interior remodeling shop local to Chicago. I think the carpet itself came to about $1000 or so the rest is labor. So at $100/hr, it comes out to 20 hrs or so? I'm also changing the color to Black from Cashmere. They are quoting $4200 for parts & labor for (Door Panels, Carpet, Rear seats in leather). The only thing I'm not replacing (for now) are the front seats. I'm looking for Black seats but they are expensive, som I'm toying with the idea of the following http://www.iggee.com/shop.cart?actio...prod_id=P99301 Not sure what the quality is, but for $200 it's worth a shot?

Hey, Mr Bock how's the TPC holding up? Mine's doing great, but still can't rid of the random CEL, so I ended up getting a DOT exemption, and removing the CEL light. Besides that, it's holding up well, 16K miles later. I've gone through 1 belt and a new tensioner.
