$44k? All I can say is why for a '95 C2 in any condition? And here I had envisioned a sub $30k car from the description from Matt. I am confused as well now.
Also confusing, Matt had a '95 993 that he stated he is in the process of selling. Why didn't he avoid all of this and just keep his current '95 993 and turn that into a track mobile?

Agreed. I know that if I was buying a car for 44k, I don't care if someone from the Porsche family or Rennlist was selling it, I would have done a fair amount of due diligence.

The price adds an additional dimension. I thought that Matt was being a bit unreasonable here, with such high standards. But there is absolutely the implication (whether legal or not) that if you pay a premium price, you have the right to expect a premium product. And of course, when you buy something for a very low price, it implies a much lower standard.
If I buy a shirt at Neiman's and it falls apart after two washings, I'll be really pissed. Buy a shirt from Wal-mart and you have a harder time complaining.
It's totally reasonable to expect a '95 C2 with 70-some k miles priced at $44k will be so perfect and clean you could assemble microprocessors sitting in the back seat.

The price, whether high or low, was agreed to between the two parties, right? If the buyer chose to pay more for the car than some other people would have, that's was his decision.
Who buys a car in the winter, picks it up in June, and then complains that he got ripped off?
Nothing short of a time machine is going to make the new owner of this car happy.

Following this thread is like coming up on the scene of a really bad accident...You know you should look away...You want to look away...But somehow, the carnage keeps pulling you back...There are lessons to be learned here....
