I went to Hyperfest '06...Didn't go back in '07, not going back this year. I did three of the "HyperDrives" (30 min track sessions), first taste of track time in my C2, and I didn't find it such a great experience. First of all, each hyperdrive starts with the instructor driving your car for 2 laps (keep in mind these are not Porsche-experienced instructors necessarily) which made me feel a little disconcerted. Second, my instructor was this bumbling nit-wit, who kept ranting on how different the rear-engine was than his "balanced" RX-7, and "wished" he could give me better instruction on how to drive it (WTF?).

Now, the Hyperfest DE is probably a completely different animal, but its been full for weeks now I hear. An STi buddy of mine will be doing that, so I might be able to relate his experience afterwards.

Otherwise, it was kind of fun watching the main track, though the whole event was geared towards the import-tuner cars the year I was there, so not much Porsche action going on.
