Default OT: Thanks 993 Veterans...Happy Memorial Day

Sorry to post this so late, was with family all day.

Well, thanks to all Veterans, but since this is a 993 board, thanks especially to my fellow 993 owners who have sacrificed and in many cases, still do.

As some of us were driving our 993s around after meeting at a local Starbucks this morning, it dawned on me during our drive. We are so lucky to be able to sit around and live our largely lazy lives...enjoying our families, houses, cars, toys, food, TV, etc... pure, unadultered freedom. That freedom comes at a cost. And regardless how you feel politically about this party or that, this war or that, there are a group of people that made it possible for us to be free today...and every other day. It is something that I believe we grossly take for granted in this country...more every generation unfortunately.

Anyway, just wanted to say "thanks". As for me, you can be sure that my boys will grow up appreciating your sacrifices. My 3 yr old helped me put up the flag today. And when Grandpa came over (30 yr retired Veteran), he got a little choked up when Jude told him "thank you for being a soldier Grandpa".

Happy Memorial Day.

Agreed! From a fellow American stuck over in Dubai for the next 3 weeks - you dont appreciate what you have till its gone. Our armed forces have defended our way of life for many years.

You know, most people think today is about finding great deals at the mall or going to a bbq. I took a second to reflect on what today is all about. I appreciate all of what the veterans have done for us.

From an active duty member of the greatest Air Force in the world, thanks for remembering those that have served and those that are currently serving both here and abroad.

We were at the war memorials in DC on Memorial Day, at Arlington National Cemetary the next. Beyond moving, especially with my three little kids in tow, who sleep soundly each night thanks to these heroes.
