Question about function of CD holder
I have a CD holder in my 'new' 96 C4S. I did not have one in my last 2 993's. I do not see any CD's in it, but I am not sure how this item is supposed to function. Can one of the RennList brethren give me a little insight?
I see the buttons along the bottom as well as a little breen tab for each holder towards the top of the slot. Should the holder open/eject if the button is depressed whether or not the slot has a CD? If so, my holder may not be functioning properly. Is there another way to open?
If it is malfunctioning, have any of you replaced the springs, etc to make it work? I am aware of the tray that is sold to fit this area and provide storage - this is what I had in my last 2 - I put them in to replace the tape holder. I will more than likely do the same, although I am ordering a carbon fibre version as the PO has carbon fibre in most of the car already. The CD holder remains, but it has been refinished in black leather and is very nice. Since this effort has been made, I would like to verify that it is functioning properly or fix the holder and either set aside to keep with the car or sell the item.
Thank you for your help - I have searched and find that the CD holder was a little more rare than the tape holder and could find no notes on the function. I think that it may be malfunctioning, but i have held out hope that it is not.
Regards

The green tab indicates that the slot is empty. Just push a CD into the slot, and the mechanism will pull it the last bit of the way in. Then push on the tab to pop it back out. Nothing opens or closes on this holder.
