2 to 2.5 hours labor I would estimate. Parts additional.

When you're ready to do the lower left cover, please call me. I'll fly up there and do it for less.....

I was going to have them replaced at my 60k tune but it slipped my mind. That was about a year ago and 5k later.

Anyway, regardless of the cost Im going to have the work completed. However, Im going to assume about $500-$700.

Thanks for the offer. I had a few things done in Phoenix after I bought the car so it would be ready for the trip back north. I have no idea what typical repairs cost for this car so I just paid the bill. I'll be doing most of my own maintenance from now on anyway.

Do it yourself. I did my 993TT and it took me a couple hours including removing the Turbos.
Your going to get raped by the labor

For real, do it yourself. I'm no DIY pro by any means and was able to do it, no sweat. Even stripped the head on one bolt and had to cut it off. It was fun (and I actually do mean that!)

I was able to complete it without even removing the muffler. Jack it up, take the wheel off, pull the plug wires, and start breaking bolts loose. Use a somewhat aggressive quick jerk to break the bolts loose and you'll be good to go. Just make sure you have a few extra bolts and a dremmel handy just in case

2 hours start to finish and most of that was jacking up the car since I HATE doing that. Scares me every time

My indy did a gasket change (left side) a few months ago...$48 for parts and $270 labor. Not cheap buts it's SF and it was at one of the better shops (translation: not cheap).

Change gaskets is really THE EASIEST thing to do on a porsche, its as easy as changing oil. If you have the money more power to ya, but boy oh boy your mechanic is going to be thinking "woot easy 400 dollars!" lol. I think I want to drop out of my PhD program and become a professional wrench.

Just got my quote from my shop.

Going to do both upper and lower gaskets. 4 hrs labor@$98 per hour, $80 in parts. About $535 w/ tax out door for upper and lower gasket replacement. I see that as a fair price for the work.

I just dont like working on cars. I have another business with my property rental in Park City and I do all the work myself--scrub the toilets and clean the place top to bottom. Thats where some of my spare time goes and to be honest, I'll scrub toilets before working on a car any day of the week. My Explorer needs new brakes, my Bronco needs a new power steering pump (easy and will do that with a buddy), and my Porsche needs gaskets. Off the shop they go!!
