Default Sport Camshaft

Dear friends,

I'm thinking about instaling Sport camshafts and chip from FVD in my euro 993s. Today I have 100 cell cats (Carnewal), RSR's, K&N filter, Motorsound box filter and RS LWF.....not sure about if any increase in performance with the cams...

maybe is better to save some more money and to buy 3.8 l. engine from FVD....

thanks for your help

I put the factory RS cams in my car and it made a noticeable difference. I also did the LWF at the same time. The best part is the sound!

Sorry I don't have any dyno numbers or anything to give performance increase. I was told (take with a grain of salt) that there was 5-10 horsepower increase. Again, no hard data for you.

Regardless, think about ditching the K&N.

I thought cams, with no other changes, just shifted power around the curve. Am I wrong gurus?

993 RS cams were made to be used with hydraulic lifters.

RS cams tend to make more power higher in the rev range, the down side is it's peakier power. The difference from stock isn't huge though. It does make the desire for better gearing more urgent and you will like the stock first gear w/ a 3.6 w/ RS cams better than a motorsports first because of the change in torque.

Speaking only for myself, we always install the larger RS intake valves along with the cams to get the maximum benefits. To me, thats the only way to make the expenditure worth the money.

Together, they DO make a noticable and measurable difference,...

Hi Keith,

Labor rates vary all over the US so anything I quote would only be valid for our shop,...... Further, one usually does a valve job and replaces the guides at this time so there are some variables at work here.

Al lthat said, please e-mail me directly for parts costs.
