Got a set of these from Ruf and did not use them. New in shipping box. They are made of same type of material as bumpers so they "fit"! New $250...here for $200 + shipping.
Fits 964 and 993. Example pic below.

With glue...which is provided by Ruf. Most important thing is they "FIT"! I tired some of glass ones and they were no where near as nice a fit.

Other than some sort of stylistic statement, what's the point? I presume they make a difference when you're approaching Mach 1.....

And they probably trap dust.

.... and that would lead to dust mites ( like an army of very small dung beetles), which have held many back from Mach 1 - definitely a deal breaker for me.

My thoughts exactly.

The RUF A pillars would definitely make a difference for a track car at fast places such as Watkins Glen, VIR, Daytona, etc. I had thought about installing them on my car before I found out they were illegal. Oh, well. IMHO, these bits are no more useless (or useful) than the spoilers, wings and splitters that street drivers put on their cars. They might even make the car quieter at highway speeds.

Why are they illegal and I regularly approach Mach 1 in school zones so they could be useful!

In PCA's stock class, you are not allowed to make body changes; however, spoilers, splitters and the like are body work exceptions that do carry some limitations.

I thought they would have been helpful for my underpowered and poorly geared 993 against the 964 cup cars at the faster tracks.

While these are the facts, it does seem odd that such a small body-smoothing item would be illegal when wings, etc. dramatically change not only the appearance on the car, but also it's behavior at speed.

It does seem odd, but you have to be familiar with the rules to understand that you can't use just any wing you want and stay in a stock class. The only wings (not spoilers) that are legal for the 993 are the Aerokit I or II (can't remember. It has an adjustable aerofoil section). Spoilers, both front and rear, are free.

All of this means that you can't shave the gutters, can't re-work the fenders for a lower or smaller frontal area, etc. for stock cars. I guess they had to draw the line somewhere to keep costs down for stock cars. If you want to make crazy body changes, there's always GT.

F. Spoilers and bumpers/air dams are free providing they do not exceed maximum factory body
width by any amount, maximum factory body length by more than 1 inch, or maximum spoiler
height of the vehicle by more than 6 inches. Turn signals, headlights, running lights and tail
lights must be retained in any bumper replacement. Rear spoilers incorporated into deck lids
are allowed, but any stock component mounted to the deck lid must be retained.
