Default Garmin Nuvi GPS mount using Proclip

Anyone use the Proclip mount #851581 to mount a Garmin Nuvi GPS in front of the center air vent?

Proclip claims the mount fits 1977 thru 1998 Porsche 911.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Love that clock mount.

But whenever I see a GPS in a 993, I can't help but think: why can't I have all my stereo and bluetooth controls up there too, instead of way down on the dash? Hard to believe that no one makes a "mount it anywhere" touchscreen that offers basic nav/audio/phone functionality on one screen.

Default Nuvi mount

I have my Nuvi on one of those $35 (Garmin, I think) "bean bag" mounts which rests on the dash of my 993. Works great, and stays put, even in hard cornering.

I think it's this one:

Thanks Terry, I tried your clock mount suggestion and it seems to work fine. Bill

I put mine in the far left corner of the windshield. This puts the Nuvi out of my way of the wheel but in a nice line of sight. The windshield mount will swivel just fine to point the display at the driver.

I have mine mounted in the centre console. I have a suction cup mount with an arm, I reversed it, removed the suction cup and wedged it under the top of the centre console. The Nuvi can swivel as well. I prefer it this way because its out of the line of sight on the dash.

It stays in place and have since mounted the remote antenna on the rear parcel shelf, ran the cable under the console lip so it connects to the plug on the nuvi for the external antenna mount. Its easy to remove when needed. No drilling at all.

You can see it the picture.

I mount mine in my other car as I can barely hear the dam thing windows opened or closed - 100 cell cats, little sound proofing and age do not help. The clock mount is a great idea.

I feel boring, I just put mine on the windshield in the center.
