Default I need your advice!

Hi guys,

Yesterday I got my car back from spring preparation

My wrench has installed a set of Bilstein shocks, H&R springs and 17" rims.

Compared to the old set up (M030), the car is now much more stable, the ride is firm but not too hard and corners are dealt with with amazing agility. I love it!!!

However, the 17" rims which were fitted to the car turned out to be Cup 93, i.e. a model which was originally developed for the 964. (see photos at bottom)

I had expected the standard 993 items. (photo on top).

As I bought the rims second hand, from another client of my mechanic, it will be hard to return them.

I actually think the car looks ok with the 964 rims, but it still nags me that the set up is not 100% original 993 parts.

What do you think???

I wish you all a great weekend.

Jens

Agree - finding a set of Cup II wheels should not be too difficult though.

Good Luck

I think the car looks "ok" the ride height looks good, but I have never been a fan of those wheels. They make the car look more low key and dated.....if you have the money in hand go find a set of Cups that were made for the 993, it will look better. There are lots around, mine are sitting in the garage with winter tires on.....but I am not sure I want to sell them, but there are lots around. At the end of the day get the car set up how YOU want it......its not up to other RL's......go for what makes the car pleasing in YOUR eyes.....I have had lots of comments about mine...good and bad....but I am comfortable with how my car looks, its what I imagined

The Cup II wheels look much better IMO.

How were the 964 wheels advertised... maybe you were misled?

I've never liked the 993 Cup II wheels. The 964 Cups actually look better to me. (As for 100% original 993 parts, Bilstein shocks and H&R springs are not exactly stock either.)

Hi guys,

Thanks for the advise, and your opinions.

I guess the answer lies in my own head. The car has to be the way I want it. That would be with 993 Cup 2 rims. I have asked my mechanic to find me some.

And, Bruce, you have a fair point. The new suspension is not exactly stock! You got me! ;-)

Take care,

Jens

FYI, obviously there are a lot of wheel options that you can use other than the Cup wheels which are pretty boring. If you want to stay Porsche, take a look at tye MY02 5 spoke 18 inch wheels. Made by BBS and very light. there is a thread with a lot of wheel pictures here.
