Default 993 seat problem

Greetings,

My car has power seats. Fore and aft adjustment has stopped working, but all the other ones still work. When I push the fore or aft button, you can hear the motor working, but it just doesn't move.

Is that particular gear stripped? Any thoughts? Thanks.

I had same problem. Had to replace both cables in front seats.

I guess the previous owner didn't move the seats much.

The seats get stuck, particualrly if they're hard up against the front or backstop. The cables in the seat then just get chewed when the motor operates.

Instructions are on here to replace cables - but if the seat is stuck, you will chew the new cables right away. I did!! best to remove cables, then file a screwdriver tip so its the right size and use this to rotate the rods running the length of the seat (for forward and back movement). Once free, fit new cables. Oil and grease all the moving parts.

Best of British to you!!

Shoot - BTDT.... To replace the cable is easy (but time consuming...).. If it's not "stuck" (typically - when it reaches the rear of the rails - and then you need to "Bronco Bust it into movement ) - then it's cables, as Bob & Chuck notes...

Also - Bob's tips are right on... (Hey Bob! Welcome to Rennlist!!! Two years and only 36 posts?? Post more!!! )...
