removing door striker
Hi there
I plan to remove my door strikers as they need repainting black, a clean, and a re-grease. Is there anything I should watch out for? For example how are they held in behind? is there a nut that will fall off if I undo them? do they need to be aligned or do they self align?

Nothing will fall off behind the plate when you remove it.
They do not self align. Tighten it up to the point where it is barely still moving. Close the door completely on it, then open slowly and do the final tightening. A bit of trial and error.
If you had an alignment problem, it may be that the plate is worn out and a new one is in order.
