Default OT: Audi S5

An Audi was behind me while I was driving my minivan. I did not know which type it was, but it looked fierce (first I thought it was the R8). I pulled over and let it pass and only then I found out that it was a S5. The car/mufflers sounded beautiful... Anyone seen these car in action? Thoughts plsssss

Its pretty much a beast and maybe one of the sexiest cars on the road....Germany engineering at its best. Those lights are pretty sick as well. Love to see how the new M3 will fair against the new S5.

I recently looked at one in white w/ teracotta interior. Dealer wanted MSRP. Started it up, sounded nice, the interior was very nice, but the teracotta was too reddish. The front of the car is very nice, but the back reminds me of a few different cars. White may not be it's color.

I saw my first one on the road yesterday. I thought it looked good, but a little too much like a Bimmer. Sounded really nice though. I'm not a fan of the front lights either. I would buy one though for a daily driver...

My local Audi dealer let me drive the S5, 6 speed manual. Damn nice car!! Too expensive for me to purchase. The smooth, seamless power, Quattro and truly beautiful interior & exterior make this a very sweet ride.
I ended up purchasing a used S4 from an Audi guy. Very nice car with a chipped twin turbo 2.7 liter V6, 6 speed manual, Quattro AWD, 319 HP & 382 ft lbs torque. It is lazer red with black leather. This Audi can get the job done as quickly (maybe quicker) as my 993.
I feel I have two very nice German cars to choose from, depending on my mood and the road conditions around Chicago.

I have had an S4 since 2000. Chipped, brakes, etc. Great car, even better in the snow. While it has more power than the 993, it doesn't corner or brake well due to its weight. But, I really like it.
I was at a dealership that had 2 S5s, and I think they look even better in person. Great inside and out, but again, a little heavy. They are pretty pricey, and I think I like the S4 more, but Audi is the way to go up here in snow country.

For those who have actually put some seat time in an S5 - is the lack of an opening (not just pop-up) sunroof as much a deal-killer as I think?

I test drove one for @ 1 hour, very nice, my gripe was with the tranny, did not like the way the 6-speed shifted but nice ride. Actually i like my wife's A6 4.2 better for daily driver, has great power and loves open road, more room .

I saw 2 the other day on the highway coming towards me and EACH time I thought I was seeing an R8! I was only slightly disappointed since I think the S5 looks great. I had an old S6 years ago and really liked the car despite the weight. Thing was a rocket from 50-80 when the turbo kicked in.

A friend of mine reports the test drive was sweet, but he wants a Tiptronic and they're talking May for that at the earliest. He's having a hard time getting his arms around the price, too. Audiphiles are very disappointed that the DSG (direct shift gearbox) is not available for the S5, Audi will only say "someday".
