My 993 is hurt...is she totalled? Value of parts?

Ugh...I sure hope they don't try to fix it. The lower rocker and both doorjambs are crunched pretty badly, and I think the floor is buckled a bit. The front wheel is bent back a lot and the car is not steerable/drivable.
I've been searching the other threads, and the insurance buybacks have been $13-15K! Do salvage yards really pay that much? Hard to imagine they could make any money. Not worth rebuilding at that price...what should be my threshold for me buying it back? I think if the buyback is more than $8000 I may have to say goodbye to this one.
Please let me know if you see any good 993s in the $30K range.

Just because...
a 993 has been bent a bit doesn't mean it can't be fixed to factory specs. Porsche provides for dozens of measuring points along the chassis that the frame guys utilize.
993 race cars are bent all the time...they get fixed.
Tim Deschler has the frame rig and he has a great reputation too.

Glad no one was hurt. Good luck with the insurance and finding another ride if required.

Totaled mine on the track last season......sold it for salvage $9500......but it was much worse.
BTW......$15K buys very little......especially if front fender, rear quarter, door, Cellette bench work, and everything that's under the skin, is on your list.
Sorry for your loss............find a way to move on.

Ouch...so sorry, as much as it hurts to hear you are better off having it totaled. Time to repair, insurance repair not up to original fit and finish, and drastic resale drop, all reasons to hope for a total.
Good Luck

My rear decided to lead one wet day and I smacked a light pole going backwards. It took a while to sort out (7 mo) but I've now been driving it for 8 years and 130,000 miles since the unfortunate event. Glad you weren't hurt.

Rule of thumb is if the repair exceeds 50% fair market value of the car, the insurance company will consider totalling the car. Your car has relatively high miles, so the FMV is not in your favor.
In 2002/2003, Joudar on here also had an accident with his 993. Insurance paid well enough for him to upgrade to a 993tt. He bought the car back and Viperbob helped him part the car out and sold the parts. I had no idea whether it was a worthy exercise or not.
Good luck with your insurance claim/settlement.

Sorry to hear about the accident, but I'm glad to know that you were not injured. I lost my first car (a MkI Scirocco) exactly the same way (t-boned by a BMW, too, as I recall). Good luck with the insurance process.
