I've attached drawings of the schematics printed on the side of both relays. The first is the factory spec relay and the second is the one I swapped in temporarily. They both show normally open condition.
I "bench tested" both relays. 12V to the 85 & 86 posts clicks the coil and show continuity between 30 & 87.
I'm still baffled why power seems flow to the condenser clutch with the 114 relay (temp) and not the factory spec relay.

****My experience***
Just got the verdict on my AC--it appears to be a bad control unit. Everything else checks out perfectly.
Rather than dumping $1600 into a new one, my shop is going to trick the system and put a manual switch to turn the compressor on an off. So when I want air, I will just flip the switch next to the drivers seat. I rarely use AC anyway so Im just going to take that route for now. Of course, its a 100 today so it would be nice in mid afternoon! $500 out the door and I have A/C. And a Gert Protection bar installed.
Could have rigged it to the ignition so when I turn on the car, the compressor kicks in but I didnt like that idea of having it run all the time.

You can send your CCU to lorenfb@systems consulting and he will repair it for ~$350.
