Default Distributor drive belt

My 1996 C4S is nearing it's 60K service, and from everything I've read here, this is a good time to replace the distributor drive belt. My indy wrench says that Porsche hasn't made them in years and he has no idea how to get one. My call to Beverly Hills Porsche confirmed that not only do they not stock these belts, but there is no Porsche part number for this part either. I sure would like to replace my old belt, but I'm now at a loss as to how to obtain one. Any ideas from those who have been down this road? Thanks in advance.

Thanks Pequod. I really appreciate it. I was lucky enough to talk to Steve Weiner and he told me the whole Porsche saga regarding these belts and why they're not made by Porsche anymore. However, he told me Pelican has them. One call, $8 later, and now I'm on my way. Thanks anyway, Pequod.

So who is taking the dual dizzy apart to install the $8.00 belt? You or the indy?

Oh I think it'll be the indy, especially after reading the DIY on p-car.com. $200 for the job from my wrench.

Hmmmmmmmm..... a porsche mechanic that does not know where to get a distributor belt? Hope he dinn't ask you to run a hardcopy of the DIY to give to him before he starts the job. You might want to anyway just in case......
