Default Ginger's makeover - Houndstooth seats and 996 twists

I've been jonesin to try houndstooth in Ginger's Boxster red interior and finally found the right soft back sport seats to try it out. I think it turned out great. The trim shop had some trouble getting the vinyl to stretch right, so they are going to redo in a few weeks. I wanted to make sure the colors worked.

Also put on a set of 996 Hollow Turbo twists with Pirellis - 18x11 and 18x8.

Very cool Mark! I've always thought those were the best sport seats Porsche made. Great look.

Hmm, seats look pretty cool! The first shot makes both the car and the seat inserts look mint green, and my first reaction was uck, but in the correct color very nice.

Thumbs up

That is a very classic look! Is the houndstooth material pure wool or a blend? Bet it will feel great in the TX summer either way.

Stunning! Did you reupholster the 951 seats, or start with real 993 sport softbacks? If the former, did you have to do anything with the inserts to get the creases to match up?

Jon,
These were 951 seats. He took some pics of my stock seats to get the stitch curves. They are a bit more radical than stock, but ok.

I bet there are 100x as many '80s 911 and 944 sport seats out there than the rare 993/968 seats. The part number for the seat and backrest foam is identical from the mid '80s through '95 so the only difference is the cover it seems.

Ah, Thats why they reminded me of my old 944! Very nice look, but do you need to bring a riding crop with you in the car?
