No power to the cigarette lighter...

No power to the cigarette lighter...
So the other day I finally bought one of those fancy in-car GPS units, a nice Garmin model that I found on sale at Best Buy. Plugged it in, drove around for a bit, everything is cool, I'm really digging having GPS, fun times, etc.
Then I hit some potholes and the power cord that plugs into the cigarette lighter jiggled loose, causing the GPS to switch on and off. After this happened a few times, the little red light on the plug-in went out, and it was apparent that there was no more current flowing from the cigarette lighter plug-in. I went home and used my V1 to test -- also no joy. I checked the fuse, and it's fine. No other systems are affected.
Any ideas on what could have gone wrong, and how to fix it?

This is the case with all cigarette lighter adapters I've used with our 993s... Did you jiggle it around a little?
I believe it is a matter of hole size (a different standard) than newer ones. It is not a faulty lighter (at least in mine). Perhaps there is a "sleeve" that would make it stick in there better.

I've done all kinds of jiggling; the fit of the GPS plug wasn't super-tight, but it wasn't that loose either. I'm getting nothing from the cigarette plug -- the cigarette lighter doesn't work any more, and neither does the V1 or the GPS.

point a flash light in to the hole, and use an insulated screw driver ( or anything plastic and thin) to pry the 2 tabs (very flimsy and easy to manipulate) inside a little towarsd the center. They might be pressed flush against the sides and are not getting a good connection.
THAT WORKED FOR ME.....AND THE FUSE WAS BURNT
