Many of you are intimately familiar with the latest oil saga going on. It is crazy and confusing. And of course, the question was now posed about what gas you are using. As if that has ever been in question. But I have never seen any discussions on the 993 forum on which windshield wiper fluid to use. So, what fluid should a 993 owner use? The crappy California stuff that freezes to your windshield on a sub 32 degree Farenheit day? The cheap blue stuff available at the corner gas station? The purple stuff for $4.00 at the discount stores? Plain water with some Wurth additive? Just get out and throw some snow on the windshield every couple of miles? What say you? Discuss.

BTW, I have owned my 993 for 3.5 years and never added any. It still has the crappy Cali stuff that freezes to your windshield in the cold.

Never added any in 1.5yrs of ownership. In my DD's I use RainX washer fluid. It keeps the effects of standard rainx all year. It keeps me from having to use the wipers as much, and I think that saves on scratching the w/s. They sell two versions; a winter type w/d-icier and a summer type for bugs. It has never harmed the paint on any of my other cars so I'll be adding it to the 993 in the near future.

I removed the whole system. It's unnecessary weight. I don't drive my car in the salt, and I don't go mud-bogging with it. Hence, no need for windshield wiper fluid. If the windshield gets dirty for some reason, I pull into a gas station and use the box of sewage water and ragged squeegee they leave out by the gas pumps.

I used the "Kragan Auto Parts" standard gallon jug pink crap I had in the garage for my Lexus. It sucks. On either car it leaves a white-crusty residue, so I only use the washers on long trips to get rid of the bugs..... I have heard great things about the RainX products, but have not given them a try.

Are there any home concoctions out there that work w/o residue & streaks? Distilled water & Vinegar?

I fill the reservoir with a nice Zin or Cab, as i have rerouted the plumbing into the glove box, where I attached a small dispenser. That way my flight attendant can keep our glasses full.

I like the idea. But I'll have mine filled with Cretan Raki. This is basically Cretan moonshine and can be good stuff. Much more bang for the buck given the volume the containter can hold. I just bought some home brew honey Raki today and it is smooth.

Does Brad Penn or Swepco make a windshield wiper fluid for our cars? I would like to be able to preserve my replacement windshield as long as I can with the most current but yet retro fluids available.

Believe it or not, I still have the original fluid that came with the car. I've only used the washer once or twice since I've had the car becaase it only goes out in good weather.

For my DD, I use RainX.
