Default Swepco 306 and Brad Penn Racing 1 oils

Do any of you use either Swepco 306 or Brad Penn Racing 1 oil in your 993s? Are these synthetic oils or mineral based and if they are mineral based are they safe to use in a 1998 993 as my Porsche manual specs or seems to prefer syn. oil?

TIA for any help with this,
Patrick

See the thread entitled "Anything New on the Mobil 1 Front?" (currently on this forum's first page). It should answer all your questions plus a few you never thought of and leave your head spinning for days, especially if you read all the linked materials.

I'm planning on blending the BP 10w30 with the 20w50 to get my desired 15w40 for my next oil change. See the thread dcdude gave you and it should answer all your questions and more.

Default No blending oils/additives for me...

100% pure Mazola for me. Winter viscosity = a perfect pie crust.

I heard that with today's health craze it doesn't have enough saturated fats in it...

I have been using BP 20w50 with no issues for the past few years.

It's been too long since we had an oil thread....even if it is a blast from the past.

I like & use Swepco based on a Rennsport dyno test on a 3.2 P-car motor.
Steve Weiner noted a 8-10 hp gain over other top brands tested.

Here we go again! Too bad we dont have "smell-o-vision". Some of us old geezers could burn some CASTROL bean oil! (I just love to go to the vintage races and whiff that stuff!)

Recently, I found a forgotten case of Castrol R and Blendzall that I used to use in my (2-stroke) motorcycles. Although it was messy, those were incredible lubricants in such engines and offered that great smell.

I used to use some in my lawn mower to make that task a bit more enjoyable and yes, I did inhale,...

Yes, the return of oil threads! I've grown tired of the cosmoline polishing threads. I have been using Brad Penn 20w-50 for the last few years based on the opinion of a few engine builders, one who happens to have posted here and another named Charles who has been absent for quite some time on Rennlist. So far my car hasn't blown up and I've done several thousand track miles over the last few years.

BTW, Brad Penn is a partial synthetic.

Steve-
Maybe we should develop a new men's cologne...for geezer gearheads!
