Default A great solution to my 993 storage problem: Car Capsule

I have a two car garage and three cars. I didn't want to leave any of my cars outside and unprotected from weather, bikes, *****, etc. I have no option to add to the garage, no height for a lift, yada, yada.

So, I widened my driveway 6' - as far as I could - and found a car capsule for the outdoors. This thing is great. Runs on three small, quiet fans, completely protects the car from the basketball hoop pictured and is very easy to use. The cover is 15 mil thick, so it is tough.

I can set it up in about 2 minutes. I pull my car onto the mat, pull the cover over the car (thus the reason for the red car cover), zip it all around the car, and turn it on. In about 3 minutes it is totally inflated. The fan filters the air, so no dust gets in.

Best part is that it only cost $500. If you are interested in the vendor, send me a PM.

Check out the pics.

cool
I have never seen these in anything but clear plastic. This looks a little tougher. Guess it's the outdoor version, eh?

I wonder if they will ever develop a cold weather version?
The one shown looks as though it wouldn't last 10 minutes in New England.

Where do you pile the snow now?

Fortunately snow isn't a problem for me. But I expect that it would slide off. The seller uses them in upstate NY and says that he has to shovel the snow away from the fans on occasion.

15 mil plastic is pretty tough.

From memory on the Cayenne board, that is hard to do!

Still loving that Targa? Or is it locked up for the winter?

BTW, this is in the alley in the back of my house. So I don't really care how it looks. I would not put it in front of my house (see avatar).

Right off the Intercity Lines transporter and into the heated garage....waiting for Spring and the roads to be clear. Pretty car, looking forward to my wife enjoying it.

A Cayenne board is like a Smorgasbord, but with peppers.

By the by, what sort of power consumption are we looking at ?

That was my thought at first. I wouldn't want it out in front on the driveway, but with your alley setup seems nice. Can't build a garage for $500. Cool.

Each fan says 7.8 watts and there are 3 fans. The manufacturer claims that it costs $1.50 per month. So, not much at all.

Okay okay, the *real* problem here is that you kicked the 993 to the curb and have a bling-bling-mobile parked in the garage. What gives, man?
