I think the dealer refusal to provide service records to subsequent owners is industry-wide. There are probably some instances where providing these records came back to bite someone's behind, and now they can't be had. When I bought my current Porsche, even with a very well-placed friend inside the Porsche organization, the best I could get was a verbal summary of the service history. Luckily, with only 19,000 miles on the car at that time, there wasn't much.
