+1 ! Keep an eye out at those East Coast Auctions - might be a nice deal to be had for parts.

Really glad everything worked out - and quickly too. :)

Glad you walked away with a happy ending. I am also with USAA. Good prior experience with non-total loss on other vehicles.

Would be tempting to try to buy the new top end engine back from the insurance company...

Neil,
Glad you’re okay and you found a new 993.
+1 on USAA; I can’t say enough about how great they are.

What a bummer, Neil! Glad you weren't hurt and that you found a new car so quickly!

nikdog 01-15-2008 05:48 PM

Neil, sorry to read about your accident, glad you're ok.Dealing with insurance companies and our type of cars has always worried me,you sound like you are comfortable with their final offer. New car looks great!
Congrats

Congrats on the new 993. USAA provides excellent coverage for Military service members!

A sad story with a happy ending. So where did that fresh 3.6 end up?

ARM993 01-15-2008 07:54 PM

Wow, sorry to hear about the loss of your 993. It is great to hear about the positive experience you had replacing her though. The guys at Brumos seem to be a class act and it is nice to hear that they take care of a used car buyer as well as someone purchasing a new 997. Good luck with the new ride.

I sincerely hoped that it would find its way to my garage.

Still waiting.

I want to thank everyone for the kind words. I had to laugh when some of you were surprised it was declared a total. As I got out of the car my first thought was just that " it's not that bad". Then I began to chant; please be a total, please be a total, please be a...
The initial estimate was over $22,000 in parts alone. With NADA at $26,800 it didn't take much.
A day hasn't gone by that Andreas isn't scheming the best method to "appropriate" the engine. If you are really interested I suggest you call Clarksville Collision Center and find out who picked it up. You might get it before it passes thru too many hands. 410-531-5656.
A couple of free items for anyone who wants them,
1. set of wheel locks
2. 6 CD cassette-just the plastic 6 CD holder
3. engine tray
4. couple of plastic covers for the rear A arms
I would like to sell the brand new floor carpets-black 993-551-021-00-5FV. Not mats, these are the carpet pieces that fit on top of the insulation and below the mats . OEM-Sunset
I did Ebay 2 items, the complete manual with all books even the BAT PHONE manual, and the "Motorsound" tips from the 97-Gillet.

Neil,
You may wish to post a separate thread detailing the free parts. You may not get the exposure buried in this thread.

Are those plastic A-arm covers the ones you cleaned with Q-Tips?

:)

I'm very sorry to hear of the loss of your car. Glad you are OK.
You did a 'quick recovery' on the replacement. Has to ease the pain.
Congratulations!

Neil...I would like the plastic covers for the rear A-arms as mine have always been missing. Thanks if they are still available.

NP993 01-16-2008 02:28 AM

nsully, I'll take that engine tray if you don't want it. I'd like to run my car with it installed in the winter. I'm in DC and could just pick it up from you.
