Hy everybody
I'm thinking about upgrading my 993 wheels from Cup2/17 ( 205/255 ) to Cup3/18 ( 225/265 ).
But i'm asking myself one question:
For people who did that opération, have you felt/noticed a lost in accélérations ( because of the bigger tyre sizes and the heavier weight ) ???
I know the ride will be a little be stiffer ( for what I don't mind ), but I don't want to get a lazyer car
Thanks for the answers
Boubi, the weight difference between the Cup2's and the 18" turbo twists (hollow spokes) are minimal. I really don't think you will notice any difference. Do you have a NB 993 or a WB 993? I am asking because I might have a set of 18" turbotwists (hollowspoke) for sale soon, mint condition with tyres.. GL
I am currently in need of a spare set for mine, do you know when they may be available? are they for the turbo? or are they the ones for the narrow body?
you may know my car as its spent some time in Sweeden in the past

I've a NB 993.
Thanks for your proposition but I've already found the 18 set near Paris !!
I regularly swap over my 16” cup wheel with my 18” hollow spokes and the performance feels the same even though the 18” wheels are slightly heavier (by 1kg per wheel).
If you buy 18” solid spoke wheels then I still don’t think you’ll notice a performance difference, you are more likely to notice how your car has a harder time reacting to bumps in the road. This is not just because of thinner tyre sidewalls, but also because the suspension has to work so much harder with heavier wheels.
It all depends how sensitive you are to these things, everyone is different. The best thing to do is to drive your car with a set of 18” wheels fitted before buying and pay close attention to tyre pressures when doing so.
I have had lots of miles with 16's, 17's and 18's on both my 95's. The 16's are MUCH lighter and accelerate noticably faster - not only becasue they are light, but they are the smallest in overall dia. With the right tires, I think 16's would be a hoot on the street in a straight line. The 18's are slightly larger in diameter and are very heavy and for some reasom will contribute to front end wobble if your LCA's are even the slightest bit worn. But they Handle very, very well though - the best! Steering response is fastest for obvious reasons.
YOu will readily notice the visual difference in circumference between the 16's and 18's. The car will have the most SUV-look with the 16's, less so with the 17's and even less with the 18's. The 18's have much less SUV look since the everything in wheel well is larger, especially the rears. The 17's are sort of in the middle with the weight issue and are fine for every day use in my opinon. I have a spare set of 18's if you wnat to try them:^) Just a quick 02 cts worth...
BTW: the ride quality on the 18's was excellent. They do not feel 'stiff' or overly 'hard'. Could be the tires though - I am running Pirelli P-zeros on the 18's. My 17s are Contis and the 16's were Yokohama.
