Best way to close 2007 - North GA Mountain Run Pics.
Happy New Year to all. This the best way to end 2007. A run to the Georgia Mountains with a small group of fellow Rennlisters!
We took off at 7:30am under heavy morning fog and cold temperatures. We headed to Dahlonega and met up with Terry up there. There was a total of 8 993's. What an awesome sight!!!
I had my brother with me as the designated co-pilot-picture-taker of the bunch. He has a sweet Canon EOS digital SLR with a variety of lenses so I got pictures gallore. Some came out pretty cool.
Here are some pictures from the early morning start.
Second picture is Curry (CurBrown79) who organized this. Thanks Curry!

Here we 're heading toward Dahlonega to meet up with Terry (Tmc993). We parked there and decided our route. Took some pictures of classic 993 asses and headed up to the twisters.
Route committee: Les (vee12), Terry (Tmc993), Ed (Ed Burdell) and yours truly.

Finally we stop at the top of the mountain (White cars have the fastest engines...but then again, everyone already knows that ), took a break and took our group picture.
What a great morning and perfcet way to end 2007 and start 2008!!!
Happy New Year!!

Well...Terry pointed out to us that the salt trucks were out, deicing bridges and overpasses. Sure enough, one passed us as we were at the rendezvous point...off to the car wash right now to set things right...

It was great to meet you guys...
I knew I had gotten slow in my old age but I didn't think it was as bad as it turned out to be...
It was obvious I was holding you up on the route out of Dahlonega, but when I pulled over to let you by on the first passing lane...Damn!...It was like the opening lap of a cup race!...I was laughing so hard I couldn't shift!
Hope you all have a great 2008!

Hat's off to Sergio and Ed with the great photos. Had a blast and enjoyed meeting everyone-great to see that many 993's in Atlanta. Almost wished we waited till this afternoon to make the run-my fault, but the wife has her rules. By the time we started down the mountain the roads started to dry out and transitioned into a great day. Happy new years fellas.

Hey guys, pleasure to meet all of you this morning . . . great run through the mountains so special thanks to all of those that organized the get together and provided the routes. 60 degrees and sunny in December and gratuitous excess in a 993 are all good reasons for coming back from NYC.
And it mustn't go unmentioned that there was one casualty today . . . RIP grey squirrel.
(And I am still a member . . . I just have one membership now and my account hasn't been updated to that membership #.)

I thought it might be that little SOB from the Progressive Insurance commercials...so I just smoothed him out! Great fun was had by all....mini 993 cup race on 19/129 included. Cy....come back to GA soon, your steed needs regular exercise! Dave, Ed, Sergio and Ricardo, thanks for posting the pics so quickly. The pics are great, but I'll be reliving the experience in my mind for weeks. Looking forward to the next outing. BTW, Dave your car sounds wicked.
