Question Ques: Fuel Stabilizer

Quick question....

I am tucking my 993 away for 2-3 months in my garage was thinking of puting some StaBil in the tank. Does anyone use any other fuel stabilizer? Does it matter? Is it really needed for 2-3 months?

I use it every year when I put my car away for the winter. With that and a trickle charger it always starts on the first turn in the spring.

I use it year round. I'll try to find the article, but I had read in the past that the stabilizer helps counter some of the negative effects of the increased Ethanol content in today's fuel.

BG Super Charge 2

I use BG 44k about every 3 months in my fuel.

Is it too late to add it to the car eventhough it has been in storage for two months now? The car has a full tank of gas but has not been started for almost two months? Thanks- JH

The only problem will be mixing...but it is never too late.

It's not too late, but won't have as good an effect. You generally want to put it in when topping off the tank and then drive for a few miles to make sure it gets distributed evenly through entire fuel system (injectors, fuel lines, etc.) not just the tank.

Thank you for the feedback. I think I'll wait with adding the stabilizer until the snow disappears and the roads dry out. I'll follow the top off procedure mentioned above and then put the car back in storage. Thanks again. JH

I put the car away a little prematurely with a pending storm about 5 weeks ago. I tucked it in and covered it up just as the first flakes were falling. I was not able to get it out until today, the weather/roads were just lousy.

I pulled it out, added the fuel stabilizer, topped off the tank, drove it a while unitl it reached full temp, filled the tires with 50 psi, and put it back in the garage. Felt good to take a blast down the highway today.

I put mine away before that storm, while I was walking to a friend's house for a Christmas cocktail another neighbor blew by in his TT. I sure with the sun out on Christmas day he couldn't resst.

I use StaBil religiously when I store my toys for the winter, along with trickle chargers. Can't hurt putting some in now just to keep the gas "fresh." Add some more when you top off the tank and can drive the car a bit. Just a thought.
